July 2013 magazines

I don't know about you but I have a stack of 10-12 magazines I try to read through each month to see where we at Not Too Shabby stand on Collectibles, design, colors, etc.

Well I finally had a chance to review a couple on the plane - the attest House & Home (July 2013), has some great articles, starting with a feature on Enamelware;

Which we love & have some great unique pieces at the store, with blue or red stripes.

I loved reading about Bellamere, a stunning lakeside home featuring lots of light, white rooms with pops of blue, and great inexpensive collections we can all achieve.

I also had a chance to look at the latest Flea Market Style (#141).

Some fantastic repurposing ideas, and a shout out to our friends Trinidad & Johan of Atelier de Campagne (check them out on Facebook or at their website, atelierdecampagne.web.com.  Right now they are in Belgium!). We love all of their amazing items, right now we have those stunning Hungary Olive Buckets.

There was also a shout out to our other friend Garrett Platanitis, who owns Platanitis in Auburn.  Garrett takes used flannels & turns them into amazing super soft, paler versions that we love love love. Garrett also stocks his store with wonderful unusual find including architectural pieces.  You can check out his store yourself at 1558 Lincoln Way, Auburn.

There was also a great recommendation for the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®, decorative paint workshops.  I love teaching the workshops, playing with finishes, and creating new colors.  I've never worked with any other paint that is low VOC, non-toxic, dries in an hour, and so very flexible that I can easily create so many different looks, including dyeing fabrics & painting upholstery.

Isn't it wonderful when the things you love get validated by someone you respect!

Talk to you later
