Fun at Vegas Market

We've been at the Vegas Home & Gift Market since Sunday, scouting, shopping, and planning.

I know it sounds like wonderful fun.

It is.

It is also exhausting, stressful, and somewhat overwhelming.

So I've been having fun sending the girls pictures of things I'm not ordering. Things that just don't quite meet our needs.

(They said to only order 1 manger scene - life-sized anyone)

Smile.

Really, I've found some great treasures.

Family Time

We spoiled everyone, including me, with a trip to Hawaii. Its our second time ever & it's amazingly relaxing.

The holiday season starts in July, runs through to January, and ends with Inventory & packing up for the year. I LOVE it! Really! The fall is my favorite time of year! I can't even begin to tell you how much I love changing the store for the seasons, seeing people's faces when they walk in the door, hearing the 'oh!' 'I love this store!' 'I came back with my family' It's music for me.

The cost of my crazy season is time with my family. So a family vacation right after the holidays, before school starts again, is a a treat for all.

I'm feeling more awake, getting refreshed, and starting to be excited about planning the next Holiday Season, Workshops, and adjustments to the store.

I'm almost ready to work on my 2015 Goals.

I can't wait to see you & share our plans.

Vacation - Part 1

After a tremendous holiday season, trying to find balance between 2 stores, and having both girls in college, we wrapped up the last of the holiday items & took the whole family to Maui.

I think we timed our arrival perfectly, after a bad storm, but it was still very windy. This way we could do the most important thing - SLEEP!

We've filled our first 2 days with sleeping late, eating good food, walking, and starting to relax.

Łast night was the first night I didn't dream of living in a Christmas house, surrounded by boxes of decorations!

Here's some of the beautiful birds we've seen on our walks.

We're off to rent snorkel equipment, and buy lots of sunblock!

Gifts for the Local Brew Lovers

We are really good at filling Not Too Shabby & Re-Find Living with girly stuff - chandeliers, soaps, Turkish towels, but it's a challenge to source less girly gifts so I love that we carry this great line of Growlers & Beer Glasses.

The glasses are the perfect size to keep in the freezer and fill with icy coldness when you're ready.

And I love the funny sayings - Save Water Drink Morè Beer, or In Dog Years I've Only Had One.

These are reasonably priced, great quality pieces - for yourself, or someone you love.

And I've found a couple of signs that share the same humor.

Christmas Fun at Re-Find Living

It's been a week & I finally have a break long enough to post pictures of our 2nd store and some of the beautiful Holiday decorations we put up.

I love these banners! They're lightweight enough to hang almost anywhere, we put them in the tree but they also look great on a tablescape, in a wreath, hanging from a porch light outside.

We used silver, gold, black, red, and green ornaments on the tree.

I also like to mix up the textures on the tree, lots of glitter, glass, paper, velvet, feathers, and just a mix of items. We tucked in some white owls along with the beautiful vintage-style glass bells.

Love these paper medallion ornaments, the black/white/silver color combo is so pretty.

It took about 4 hours, 3 people, and 500 ornaments to decorate this tree.

Here's the tree all lit up at night. Pretty wonderful!

Random Thoughts

We finished putting up most of our Holiday Decorations in BOTH stores Friday night.

We had our 2nd great Holiday Open House of the season, at Re-Find Living (the first was at Not Too Shabby last Friday night) last night. There was a wonderful turnout of customers, special thanks to our fantastic DJ's Chris & Nate of On The Mic!

I got to sleep till 9 the next morning. It was so nice! I started to feel like a normal human. Had a great afternoon at NTS, fluffing trees & our Thanksgiving section.

Then I had all day Sunday off. So I decided to sleep late, relax, go for a walk and spend time in the kitchen. All things I've been missing over the last few months.

When we walked at the park, it was a little chilly, perfect fall weather. We surprised a flock of turkeys, and I caught this white one.

I spent the afternoon making this Hearty Tuscan Soup. I found the recipe on Pinterist and it was so easy! Plus it used up all of my farm box vegetables. Lot f leftovers to cover the week.

Sam came home on Sunday night for a short visit. We had the whole family together! A great re-charging weekend.

Silver & Gold - The Liberace Tree

This truly luxurious tree started with beautiful gold tinsel picks.

We actually moved our Chalk Paînt® decorative paint by Annie Sloan paint cabinet so the tree could be against our painted wall, waxed, and gilded wall. I think it really shows off the beautiful silver and gold of the tree.
