Another Stenciled Wall

10:49 PM

We had the great French Inspired Stenciled wall at Not Too Shabby, so when we were getting the new store, Re-Find Living ready, we decided to make one of the focal walls stenciled.

Samantha lead this project, and actually did most of the work herself with some help from her sister Cassidy.

She started with a highly textured wall.

Painted it Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Provence.  Love this color!

It was completely covered in one coat - gotta love that!

Then Samantha mixed Dark Wax with mineral spirits, to a pudding consistency.  Using a chippy brush made quick work of waxing the wall.  Because the wall was highly textured, the dark wax gathered in the grooves, adding great depth to the wall.  And, since this was a wall  - No buffing required!

NOTE - When you mix the wax to ease application, it cuts the 'protection' the wax gives.  I only recommend mixing the wax when it is to be used on a wall, or a piece with lots of cubbies/shelves - like a bookshelf.  I would NEVER use a mineral spirits/wax mix on a table-top or cabinet.

Final step, using Royal Stencil Design Peacock Feather stencil & the Bronze Stencil Cream, Samantha randomly stenciled the wall.  The hardest part was applying the stencil over the textured parts.  Samantha had Cassidy help lay the stencil 'flat' in those areas.

Another fun Chalk Paint® project.
